You may wonder why I have her repeat a book — why I ever have her repeat a book that she can read in one sitting like this. I usually require a repeat if I had to help her along here and there, or, alternately, she took a very long time sounding out a number of the words. I just find that one more extra practice comes in handy before moving on, as if it is giving time for the concrete to harden before building upon it, if that makes sense.
Obviously, you do not have to require your students to read a book twice if you do not wish to.
