I never plan to disappear, but I always do. Every single summer, I find myself with less time to blog, and since I’m not giving lessons much during that time, I’m also low on content fodder.
So I disappear.
But the school year faithfully returns, and September is a natural time to start back up.
So here we are.
I think it’s going to be a great year! I thought I’d share my plans and goals with you in regard to this blog.
First, I’m going to finish typing up the reading lessons for Daughter Q. She’s done with lessons now (and reading voraciously), but I still have a bit left that I didn’t finish typing up last year, so we’ll start with those.
And second, I’m going to start sharing the reading lessons for my newest student, who happens to be my youngest child, Son O. Son O. is six-years-old, and he began some simple {occasional} reading lessons over the summer, right before his sixth birthday.
My rule has always been that if the student does not ask to begin reading lessons before age six, then I insist upon their sixth birthday.
Thankfully, it never came to that, and Son O. did end up asking at age five-almost-six. I was tempted to put him off because it was summer and we were starting in the fall anyhow, but I decided that it really wasn’t a big deal to start, and that it might give him some encouragement.
