I didn’t actually make a card for this rule, and it isn’t really its own sound per se, but I did find it helpful to have a discussion with my daughter about it. “Be” at the BEginning (ahem) of a word still says “be.” She was saying the short-e sound rather than the long-e sound.
So even though I didn’t make a card, I did write it out like a little chart; it’s just that we only needed to look at it once or twice. Some ideas would include words like: began and belittle.
