The word other isn’t really a sight word, but I find that some students need help reading it for the first time, so I put it there as a warning for you. Really, it follows rules they already know, but new words–especially words beginning with a vowel–seem to trip some students up.
What I really need to do is make a card for this type of u sound–busy and minute both have it. There are probably others I haven’t thought about it. I just haven’t done it yet and so I broke my own rules and introduced busy as a sight word.
The word one might actually be review. I can’t remember for sure, so I taught it again. If it wasn’t new, my student had somehow forgotten it. Maybe I’m missing a review card somewhere…
