In this book, the combination of a consonant followed by the letter l is used over and over again. It’s a combination of sounds that our students haven’t encountered much yet and some of them might need a little help getting the hang of it. Slid, plop, glob — all these words use the combination I’m talking about. Feel free to spell some out on the page and practice with your students before you get started on reading the book. Sometimes, a little prep like that can go a long way for a child.
