This little book is called What Is That? and while your student is reading it — because it’s likely easy for him — try to coach him on reading the questions correctly. In other words, they ought to sound like questions. One thing I like to do is to echo my student. So he reads the sentence, and I repeat it, but when I repeat it, I do it with the correct inflection. I don’t tell him he did it wrong, I just make sure my “echo” is correct.
